Wanted: Red velvet box for Tree of Life menorah
When I moved to Northbrook, I ditched the red velvet box it came in.
Bad idea!
Without the box, it blackens completely with tarnish.
The artist is Fred Spinowitz.
I am willing to buy the box if if you have one.

I thought that after a year such as this, this is a truly uplifting local event and I wanted to share.

North Shore Balloon Decor is doing their job to make the holidays magical for our beloved Chicagoland.

The event page reads,

"Need a cute holiday photo? Award-winning balloon decorator, Megan Raysby, will be building an 8-foot-tall gingerbread house photo op backdrop at Northbrook Court Mall in support of The Hunger Resource Network.

Attend in person: If you need to do a little holiday shopping, we welcome you to come by Northbrook Court Mall to watch the live build taking place on Friday, December 18th at 11:00 AM, or stop by on Saturday, December 19th, or Sunday December 20th during regular mall hours to use the photo backdrop.

We ask for a donation of $10 - $20, or non-perishable items to help support the Hunger Resource Network. They are just $5,000 away from their 2020 goal! Hunger Resource Network aids in the alleviation of hunger by helping meet the needs of food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. It does this by coordinating the procurement and distribution of food to those in need through community outreach events and through partnerships with vendors at local Farmers’ Markets. Together, we can help the Hunger Resource Network alleviate hunger. Use the keyword GINGERBREAD when making your donation so we can track our efforts.

Attend virtually: If you are staying home this holiday season but would still like to have an adorable holiday photo, make your donation online, then send us a family photo on Facebook to be photo shopped in front of the gingerbread house backdrop. You can also watch the live build from the comfort of your home via our Facebook Live. Enjoy a little online shopping while you're at it -- Northbrook Court Mall has plenty of open stores!"

I love the thought of three local businesses coming together -- and as much magic as Megan is bringing to the community -- I wanted to share here to help raise awareness and bring her a little magic as well. You can view the event page directly at https://northshoreballoondecor.com/donate2020

Take care, neighbors!
